"Food for Fines' Starts This Sunday Oct. 17

The annual "Food for Fines" program at the Mary Riley Styles Library in the City of Falls Church begins this Sunday, Oct. 17 and runs through the following Saturday.

It permits library patrons the option of trading donations of food for the needy for fines owed on overdue books and library materials.

The non-perishable food items will be donated to a local food bank for distribution to homeless and hungry individuals and families. No glass jars, opened containers, items past expiration dates, sample or trial-sized items can be accepted. Also, bills for lost or damaged library materials cannot be paid for through this program.
