The Falls Church Lacrosse Club’s U12 Girls Lacrosse team just completed a stellar season winning eight games with only one defeat for a second-place finish in the Northern Virginia Youth Lacrosse League’s 2B Southeast Division.
The Mustangs, under the excellent guidance of Coach Ellen Hsu and program director Barb Mahony, competed against other fifth and sixth grade teams from Braddock Road, Springfield, Annandale, Arlington, Prince William, Alexandria, and Fort Hunt.
The Division 2B season was highlighted with lots of skills development, resulting in a quick offense as well as a formidable and reliable defense. The team scored 91 goals this season, by far the most goals of any team in their division. Scoring more than half of the team’s points were Kelly Niklason, Taylor Bottock, Abby Johansen, and Christinia Perez. The outstanding defense was anchored by the solid goaltending of Tyler Morris and Shelby Martin.
The club’s Division 3B team, comprised of area girls in grades three, four and even younger, also played a very competitive schedule this season. The team has made great strides under the expert coaching of Laura Aitchison, and did manage a 5-4 win over the formidable Fort Hunt club.
Moving up to Division I next year are Kelly Niklason, Taylor Bottock, Christinia Perez, Emily Pyne, Gwen Edwards, Tyler Morris, Chelsea Wilkes, Maggie Underwood, Lacey Hallett, Shelby Martin, Courtney Ready, and Mallory Grant.
