Class of 2000 George Mason High School graduate Daniel Coleman graduated summa cum laude from Tufts University in Boston with a degree in civil engineering. He was also commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army and is currently assigned to Ft. Lewis, Washington.
The Virginia Tech Army R.O.T.C. held its commissioning ceremony for the class of 2004 on Monday, with Emperatriz Henriquez of Falls Church, Va. commissioned to Fort Bliss, Texas after receiving his degree in business.
Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. announced the graduation of Samuel Barnett Thielman, Jr. on May 22.
After spending his first eight years of schooling in Falls Church and four years of high school in Brazil, Alex William Garrison has completed his last phase of education by graduating from the University of Virginia on May 16 with a degree in architecture. He will working at SmithGroup an architectural firm in Washington this summer.
Julie C. Berson of Falls Church was named to the Dean’s List at Connecticut College for the spring semester. The list recognizes students with GPAs between 3.3 and 3.69.
The College of William and Mary also announced its Dean’s List with multiple honorees from Falls Church. Heather Barnes, Nolan Bennett, Elizabeth Blake, Benjamin Cox, Jessie DiGregory, James Dzierwa, Michael Gallagher, Richard Heupel, Susan Kennedy, Amelia Kissick, Khoa Luong, Michelle Neyland, Sara Parelhoff, Gabriel Ruth, Michael Svestka, Alisa Wiskin, Rudan Zhang all earned a 3.6 or better Quality Point Average while taking 12 credit hours this spring.
Jordana L. Rozenman of Fairfax and Molly Conn Cincotta of Falls Church were named to the Dean’s List at Goucher College near Baltimore.
Happy 90th birthday to George Jackman, a Falls Church resident since the 1940’s along with his wife Dorothy. They are also both honorees of the Heritage Club (members for 50 years and counting) of Columbia Baptist Church.

Mr. Walter L. Mess, one of two of Falls Church’s two original appointments to the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority in 1959, has been voted the 2004 National Recreation and Park Association’s National Voluntary Service Award winner. The presentation will take place on October 13, at the NRPA’s National Conference. Mess has served as chairman of the NVRPA since 1976. Congratulations on this very prestigious award.

Susan Parson of Falls Church recently earned her Master Instructor designation. Susan works with the FAA and is an independent flight and ground instructor at Leesburg Executive Airport (JYO). She also serves as deputy safety director for the CAP's Virginia Wing and is a Washington FSDO safety counselor.
The New Dominion Women’s Club recently donated $10,000 to the McLean Youth Orchestra following its most successful walkathon to date on May 15 in McLean Central Park. Clemyjoyntri Park and the Alternative House/Culmore Center also received money from the Women’s Club.
