3 Mustangs Make States, Lashway Wins Regional
By Mike Hume
Three George Mason runners qualified for the State Championships and senior Niles Lashway took first place in the 300M hurdles at the Region B Championships last week.
In addition to Lashway, senior Louisa Fairfax placed sixth in the girls’ 3200M, earning a spot in the States, and qualified on a previous time for the 1600M. She finished seventh in that event at Regionals.
Junior John Sullivan will join his teammates at states, placing fifth in the boys’ 3200M and thus earning a spot at States. The top six finishers in each event qualify for the State meet.
Lashway took the highest honor of the day, capturing the 300M hurdle crown, though he had to withdraw from the 110M hurdles due to a dog bite. He qualified previously on time for the 110M hurdles and will compete in that event as well at States.
The state meet will be held Saturday, June 5 at Radford University.
