Here's Pie in your Eye!

THE FIRST EVER PIE-EATING contest as a feature of the Thomas Jefferson Elementary School's Spring Fling fundraiser for the PTA was held to the delight of a fascinated crowd last Sunday. It's a tad unclear who won (maybe the final outcome had to include the belly aches later in the day). Hundreds took part in all the festivities Sunday afternoon, and other events included the dunk tank, a tattoo parlor, funny balloon making station and many more fun and games. Another highlight was a special presentation by two youngsters exhibiting their ability to temporarily deposit cicadas in their mouths. On sale to benefit the PTA were "Cicada Tour 2004" t-shirts that will bring good returns on E-Bay in 2021. For many more photos, see Pages 26 and 27 of this edition. (News-Press photo)
