Orchestra Seeks Better Turnout This Sunday

Founders of the Falls Church Chamber Orchestra are hoping for a good turnout at their spring concert this Sunday, worried that poor attendance at recent concerts might jeopardize the future of the young and talented group.
"We're joining with the celebrated troupe musicians, Con Brio!, for this Sunday's concert in hopes to attracting a larger audience," said Eric Moore, a Falls Church resident and founder of the orchestra. "We've been blessed to have truly outstanding musicians performing with us all along and know that a wider exposure will bring a devoted following."
This Sunday, the concert at the auditorium of Falls Church's George Mason High School will feature an all-J.S. Bach program, including the Overture in B Minor for flute and strings, the Concerto for flute and violin in D Minor and the Brandenberg Concerto No. 5 in D Major.
Tickets for the 3 p.m. concert are $15, and $5 for students. Since its founding, the Falls Church Chamber Orchestra has performed all its concerts at the GMHS auditorium with the deliberate intent of giving Falls Church its own orchestra at a location proximate to its desired constituency that, since being renovated in the mid-1990s, is known for its cozy confines and outstanding acoustics. Ample parking and easy access are also provided.
Con Brio!, formed in 1989, performs regularly throughout the region. Exclaimed as "sparkling" by the Washington Post, performances by Con Brio! are described as "thoroughly modern in style yet completely authentic in spirit, marked by colorful instrumentation and unusual arrangements."
The group sponsors and participates in numerous musical events each season including appearances at established recital venues such as the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, the Grace Church Bach Festival, the Church of the Annunciation Catherine and Mary Roth Concert Series and Church of the Epiphany Concerts at Noon.
