City Hires New Building Official

The City of Falls Church announced last week that it has hired Doug Fraser as its building official. Fraser will supervise the City's building inspections staff, issue certificates of occupancy, ensure compliance with codes and policies, and perform field inspections and re-inspections of residential, commercial, industrial and public facilities for compliance with building, plumbing, electrical and mechanical codes.

Fraser previously served nine years as a building plan reviewer for Arlington County inspection services. A graduate of Virginia Tech, he has over 25 years experience in architecture, engineering and code compliance. He is a certified building official with the International Code Council and holds numerous Virginia certifications in examining plumbing, fire protection and building plans.

"Doug brings a wonderful mix of architectural, engineering and construction experience. He is committed to environmental issues as they relate to construction. As a City resident, he more than understands our community. He is part of our community. We couldn't have asked for a better candidate," said City Manager Dan McKeever.

Fraser will begin work with the City May 10.
