F.C. Employee of the Year

FALLS CHURCH POLICE Lieutenant Daniel B. Ellis (right) was named the "2003 Employee of the Year" for the City of Falls Church in a ceremony at the outset of Monday's City Council meeting here. Lt. Ellis was credited with implementing key technological upgrades at the police department over the past year, including the deployment of lap top computers in all police cars and what is described as "the first paper-free police department in Virginia." Ellis has been with the Falls Church Police Department since 1985. In 1988 he was assigned as a K-9 officer and in 1990 was named the Falls Church Police Department's "Officer of the Year." In 1995 he was promoted to Police Sergeant, serving as the sergeant of the K-9 units until 2000, when he was promoted to Police Lieutenant. In addition to his job, he has represented the Police Association of the City's Retirement Board since 1996. He has managed the selection, implementation and employee training for records management, computer-aided dispatch and mobile terminal computer systems for the police department.
