Hamme, Roa & Cohe Net MVP Nods

Three George Mason High School seniors took home the highest honors of their respective teams Monday night at the GMHS Winter Sports Awards Ceremony.

After breaking two school records and finishing second in the state, wrestler Mac Cohe was the MVP of the third-place George Mason wrestling team.

Seniors Becky Roa and Evan Hamme earned MVP honors for their play on the basketball court.

Girls basketball coach Dan Wilkie lauded Roa with praise, saying his point guard could change the pace of any game. The senior averaged better than seven steals a game and scored over 200 points.

Hamme led the Mustangs in scoring and rebounding all season. He averaged better than 20 points and 12 rebounds.

The remaining awards are as follows:

Wrestling

• Team Players: Mike Cummings and Tim Quintyn.

• Most Improved: Andrew Hippolit.

• Leadership Award: Colin Ehmer

• “Wrestler’s Wrestler:” Dev-lan Melancon

• MVP: Mac Cohe

Boys Basketball

• Most Improved: Pete Hamill

• Coaches Award: Jack Lawlor and Nate McFarland

• MVP: Evan Hamme

Girls Basketball

• Most Improved: Alex Pender

• Coaches Award: Allison Van Pelt

• MVP: Becky Roa
