In today’s world of new aged diets and fads it’s a challenge to find a restaurant that doesn’t advertise some kind of “low-carb” or “healthy choice” selections. You’ve got the Atkins, the South Beach, The Zone, and countless other “eating plans” that insist on monitoring your every bite. However, if you venture to the back of the Crossroads Place shopping center in Bailey’s Crossroads and look around the corner, you’ll find the Great American Steak & Buffet Company, a place that doesn’t succumb to the pressures of the health community.
Here you’ll find a plethora of all-you-can-eat items that are guaranteed not to abide by any weight-reduction plans. Separated into three different “stations”, the Company offers meats and sides, cakes and pies, soup, salad, appetizers and so much more so that any patron can feast to their tummy’s content. The “Market Square” portion of the buffet contains plenty of options ranging from the ever popular macaroni and cheese to mashed potatoes and gravy, hot wings, green beans and the somewhat exotic (at least for this buffet) Asian-style chicken.
After you’ve visited the “Square”, take a stroll over to the “Mesquite Grill” where a bounty of meat and seafood dishes awaits. Mesquite grilled chicken, rib eye steak and sirloin are served up here as well as an array of fried options including fish, chicken, shrimp, onion rings and jalapeño poppers.
If you’ve still got room left after a trip or two (or three) through the buffet, head to the “Sunrise Bakery” and load up on your after dinner treats. There’s a lineup of sweets including cheesecake, boston cream and key lime pie, chocolate and vanilla moose and more that’ll satisfy the hankering for sugar.
Perhaps the most alluring feature of the buffet is the price. At lunch, entry into the smorgasbord of sustenance will only set you back $6.99, while dinner can be devoured for just two dollars more at $8.99 a person. Sunday mornings, there’s a breakfast buffet offered from 9 am to noon at the price of $6.99 a piece.
If you can’t get your fill of fodder in house, the Great American Steak & Buffet offers a take home option. For $3.99 a pound you can chow down on any of their dishes in the privacy of your own home.
Now, they won’t knock your socks off with their culinary creativity, but for the price, amount and assortment of the food you get, it’s almost impossible to beat. So leave your diets on hold and take a trip around the corner to the Great American Steak & Buffet Company.
